JAISALMER CAMPING: COMPLETE ITINERARY

Introduction

The city is located in the Indian state of Rajasthan, 575 kilometers from Jaipur, the state capital. Jaisalmer is located in the middle of a scorching desert and is one of India’s most famous tourist attractions. Because it is surrounded by golden sand dunes and has exquisite castles and havelis built of golden sand stone, the city is also known as the Golden City. This is a three-day tour to this desert city.

Day 1 (Patwon Ki Haveli)

  • On the first day of your journey, after arriving in Jaisalmer, head to Patwon Ki Haveli, a popular tourist destination in the city. 
  • The haveli is a collection of five modest havelis erected in the 19th century by a local brocade dealer. Kothari’s Patwa haveli is the name given to the home. 
  • The five havelis were erected for the merchant’s five sons, and the total structure is the city’s largest residence. 
  • The structure is managed by the Archaeological Survey of India and is a well-known architectural and historical monument. 
  • There is a 20Rs  price for Indian visitors and a 100 Rs cost for international tourists. There is a 50 Rs camera fee and a 100 Rs video camera fee.

Salim Singh Ki Haveli

  • Salim Singh Ki Haveli is a stunning house in Jaisalmer’s city centre that is now one of the city’s primary tourist attractions. 
  • The mansion has a gorgeous arched roof that resembles a peacock. The haveli was commissioned by Salim Singh, the then-Prime Minister of the Kingdom, and was erected over the ruins of an ancient haveli in the late 19th century. 
  • For Indian tourists, the entrance cost is Rs 10 per person, while international visitors pay Rs 15 per person. The haveli is open from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM and charges Rs50 for a camera and Rs100 for a video camera.

DAY 2  (Jaisalmer Fort)

  • On the second day, head to the famed Jaisalmer fort first thing in the morning. This fort, which is built of yellow sandstone and is set among the golden sands of the Thar Desert, is one of the world’s biggest forts. 
  • This fort is like a little town, with numerous gorgeous temples, havelis, stores, and restaurants. 
  • From the foot walls, you can obtain a stunning panoramic view of Jaisalmer city. 
  • The entrance cost to the fort is 50 rupees for Indian tourists and 250 rupees for international tourists.
  • Camera fees are 50 rupees and video camera fees are 100 rupees. Every day from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The fort is open.

GADISAR LAKE

  • From the fort of Jaisalmer Visit the lovely Gadisar Lake on the outskirts of Jaisalmer, which is like an oasis in the middle of the desert. 
  • There were no canals or irrigation systems accessible here in the Middle Ages to deliver water to this region, so Raja Rawal Jaisal erected this reservoir for his people. 
  • Located adjacent to the fort of Jaisalmer, the lake is an easy retreat from the hot and dry desert climate.

  • The lake in Gadisar is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The cost of a two-seater pedal boat is Rs100 per person. a four-seater pedal boat costs Rs200 per person, and a six-seater rowing boat costs Rs300 per person.

Baba Bagh

  • Baba Bagh, which is a garden complex about 6 kilometers north of Jaisalmer and means “large garden.” 
  • A series of royal cenotaphs, or chhatris, of Maharajas of Jaisalmer state may be seen here, overlooking a mango grove. 
  • From 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Bada Bagh is open. The entrance price is $100 per participant, plus $100 in camera fees.

DAY 3 (Jaisalmer Camping)

  • The greatest in one of India’s most genuine Desert dune landscapes is Sam Sand Dunes. 
  • The 30 to 60 meter tall dunes draw a large number of visitors each year. They are located 45 kilometers west of Jaisalmer city, and there are many days at camps erected within a 2 to 3 kilometer radius of the sand dunes where you may stay the night.
  • Every year in February, a desert festival is celebrated in this town. The best time to visit is in the evening, between 4 and 7:00 PM, or early in the morning, between 4 and 6:00 AM. 
  • This is the best sunrise or sunset you can either book a camel ride or a Jeep safari to reach the sunset point. The booking facility is available at the camp in the evening you can enjoy cultural programmes and campfires at the campsite. The charges depend on the number of activities who are participating.

DAY 4 

  • Return to the airport or train station to catch your flight or train.

HOW TO REACH

  • Jaisalmer is accessible by train, plane, or road. 
  • Jaisalmer has an airport that is exclusively connected to Delhi and Mumbai. Jaisalmer’s nearest major airport is in Jodhpur
  • Jaisalmer is well linked by train to Delhi, Jaipur, and Jodhpur.
  •  Other than these, Jaisalmer is connected to the rest of Rajasthan and other important Indian towns through the Rajasthan State Transport Corporation.

  • The cost of a premium bus ticket for this journey is roughly Rs 500. Bus services have an online booking option as well.
